Saidia

Saidia (in Arabic: لسعيدية, transliterated in Al-sa' idiyya) in French Saïdia or Saïdia of the  kiss  

known as the " blue Pearl ", is a marocainne municipality of a little important population, situated in the northeast extremity of the country, on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea.

The city possesses one of the longest beaches in Morocco, some fine and golden sand and enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Situation

History

 

Nomadic tribes of customs and Arabic language, probably that of Ouled-Mansour-Rel-Trifa, were the first inhabitants of this zone. These first inhabitants lived in huts or in Berber stores. Approximately year 1548, inhabitants of this region based in this place a population in which they built a mosque. In fact, this population has reached a certain importance in 1881 or in 1883 according to other sources, when the Sultan Hassan was ordered to build the citadel and two mosques. Until the population is named Adjroud with the construction of the citadel, it changed its name and was called Saidia (Assaïdia) which means citadel happy. Within the framework of the governmental project " the Plan the Azure ", managed towards the tourist development of Morocco, the called tourist complex Mediterranea-Saida was created, inaugurated in June, 2009. This tourist complex is near one of the places with a bigger biodiversity of Morocco, the nature reserve of the estuary of Río Mouluya, a sort of oasis between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Beni Snassen.
