CAP DE L'EAU - A Town With Three Names
A town with three names would normally conjure up an image of a
place with an identity crisis - not so Cap de L'eau.
Cap de L'eau, also known as Cabo de Aqua or Ras El Ma is a small
town
based around a harbour, with fishing its main industry. With the
fishing
comes a number of restaurants dotted throughout the town and around the
harbour. If you love eating fish, you'll love Cap de L'eau.
As
with most towns around the Saidia development it is in total
transition. New roads will pass through en route from Oujda to Nador. A
new look harbour is beginning to take shape and the town will become a
tourist attraction in its own right. Best to be aware that the work has
just started and may take years before completion.
On the eastern side of the town starts the sandy beaches that
stretch all the way to Saidia and beyond. The normally calm sea and the
endless
golden sand make it ideal for people of all ages.
On the western side of the harbour is an outcrop of rocks overlooked by a lighthouse on the top. These rocks are used by local anglers and face three small islands about a kilometer away. Most days throughout the year boys can be seen diving from the rocks into the sea. It's a marvelous spectacle but not something we recommend ourselves.
